AlyCat Biography

     

Alycat is a singer and a songwriter. But not a singer/songwriter. And she plays bass. Her songs are a blend of soul, jazz, rock and jam. Alycat is the former lead singer of BrotherSister which featured Aly's brother Jamie on drums and scratch vocals. BrotherSister played it's last show in 2005. Since then Alycat has continued writing while playing in cover bands to support herself. Her love of funk and soul is reflected in her music. "It's one part funk, one part soul, with a splash of rock and pop. We still jam out, but it's a little more structured this time", she notes. Alison has toured the east coast, shared the stage and recorded with national acts such as Rusted Root, G. Love and Special Sauce, Kenny Rogers, Donald Byrd, Schleigo, Townhall and many, many more Vocalist/bassist Alison "Alycat" Paige grew up in Wilmington where she was surrounded by a family of musicians and artists. Alison discovered that singing was her true passion and began performing with live bands at venues and festivals all over the tri-state area. Since then Alycat has continued performing and writing while playing in cover bands to support herself. Her love of funk and soul is reflected in her original music. It's one part funk, one part soul, with a splash of rock and pop...we still jam out, but it's a little more structured this time she notes. Alison has toured the east coast, shared the stage and recorded with national acts such as Rusted Root, G. Love and Special Sauce, Kenny Rogers, Donald Byrd, Schleigo, Townhall and many, many more. Alison also enjoys playing bass and has been seen jamming out with rock outfit Frisky at the Bottle and Cork, Rusty Rudder, Stone Balloon, Kahuna main stage and many other venues.  Currently you can catch Alison singing and playing with Alycat Acoustic, Milan, Brass Roots, Love Train and Frisky.

Some of her influences include: anything with soul, Stevie Wonder, Nikka Costa, N'Dea Davenport, Aretha Franklin, Janis Joplin, Diane Reeves, Ella Fitzgerald, Billy Holiday, Phish, Jamiroquai, Stuart Zender, Mike Gordon, Bootsy Collins and James Jamerson.
